You want to find out what keywords your competitors are using. This is a good way to find out what their online strengths are and to take advantage of online weaknesses (if they have any.)
There are several websites that you can access to find out what your competition is up to. Two of the best sites currently are www.spyfu.com and www.Compete.com.
Compete.com
Compete.com will give you a strong look at where your competition’s traffic is coming from whether from paid search campaigns or from
organic searches.
Compete.com will also provide information about user interaction with your web site. Other popular keyword research tools do not provide this information. Compete.com gathers information directly for website users who have installed the compete.com tool bar. The data will tell you not only how users search, but how they behave on the site.
Some of Compete.com’s information is free such as website analytics services and free keyword research. To get the paid information you have to create and account and purchase credits. When you start using the paid services, Compete.com will deduct credits from your account.
Spyfu.com
Go to spyfu.com. Not only will you be able to see what keywords your competition is optimizing for, you will see which keywords they are using in their pay-per-click campaigns. Spyfu has many free robust tools. This is a great website.
KeyCompete.com
Another great website for gathering competition information is KeyCompete.com allows you to see the specific keywords your competition is bidding on for the large search engines like Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing. Even though KeyCompete will charge you for this information, it is invaluable if you want to know what keywords your competition is bidding on.
